How Gutopia Inc. collects, uses, and protects your information.

Gutopia Inc. ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you interact with Universal Card Scanner and related services.

By accessing or using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service and contact us with any concerns.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: email address, password hash, display preferences, and optional profile metadata you provide.

Card & Collection Data: images you capture, AI-generated metadata, card attributes, custom notes, grading details, and organization data saved to your account.

Usage Data: device identifiers, app version, timestamps, feature usage, crash diagnostics, and limited analytics to improve performance.

Support Interactions: communications with our support team, including email messages and in-app feedback.

2. How We Use Information

Provide and Maintain the Service: authenticate users, sync collections, generate AI results, store card libraries, and deliver requested functionality.

Improve & Personalize: analyze usage patterns to enhance features, tailor recommendations, and develop new tools relevant to your collecting interests.

Communicate: send onboarding messages, security alerts, feature updates, legally required notices, and respond to support requests.

Safety & Compliance: detect abuse, prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, and comply with applicable laws and regulatory obligations.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

We process personal data under the following legal bases: (a) performance of a contract (providing the Service); (b) legitimate interests (improving and securing the Service); (c) compliance with legal obligations; and (d) your consent, when explicitly required (e.g., marketing communications).

4. Sharing & Disclosure

Service Providers: we engage trusted vendors for hosting, analytics, image processing, payment processing (if applicable), and customer support. These providers are contractually bound to handle your data securely and only process it on our behalf.

Legal Requests: we may disclose information to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal processes, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Gutopia Inc., our users, or the public.

Business Transfers: if Gutopia Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to confidentiality obligations.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We may also retain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting support@gutopia.ai. We will honor verified requests within a reasonable timeframe, subject to legal and contractual requirements.

6. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to safeguard your information, including encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, and regular security reviews.

No system is entirely secure. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and promptly notifying us of any suspected unauthorized access.

Gutopia Inc. operates in the United States and may process data in other countries where our service providers are located. When we transfer data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent legal mechanisms to protect your personal information.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, object to processing, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Submit requests to privacy@gutopia.ai and we will respond consistent with applicable law.

You can manage marketing preferences by following unsubscribe instructions in our emails or by contacting us directly. Certain transactional or service-related communications are necessary for account security and cannot be opted out of.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child has provided personal data in violation of this policy, we will delete that information promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us data should contact privacy@gutopia.ai.

10. Third-Party Links & Integrations

The Service may link to third-party sites or services (such as marketplaces, grading services, or reference databases). Your interactions with those services are governed by their own policies. Gutopia Inc. is not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies before sharing information.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make material updates, we will provide notice within the app, via email, or by updating the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
